Precise photoelectrochemical tuning of semiconductor microdisk lasers

چکیده
Micro- and nanodisk lasers have emerged as promising optical sources probes for on-chip free-space applications. However, the randomness in disk diameter introduced by standard nanofabrication makes it challenging to obtain deterministic wavelengths. To address this, we developed a photoelectrochemical (PEC) etching-based technique that enables us precisely tune lasing wavelength with subnanometer accuracy. We examined PEC mechanism compound semiconductor etching rate diluted sulfuric acid solution. Using this technique, produced microlasers on chip isolated particles distinct These tuned were then used tag cells culture. Our results demonstrate scalable can be produce groups of precise emission wavelengths various nanophotonic biomedical

Threshold characteristics of semiconductor microdisk lasers
Whispering-gallery mode microdisk lasers using optical’ and electrical2 excitation have recently been demonstrated. The initial experiments* and results described here use continuous-wave optical excitation at liquid-nitrogen temperatures. The threshold characteristics of these microlasers are studied here as the small volume limit is approached where there is a single optical mode within the g...
متن کاملOptical feedback and the coupling problem in semiconductor microdisk lasers
The smaller the size of a light-emitting microcavity, the more important it becomes to understand the effects of the cavity boundary on the optical mode profile. Conventional methods of laser physics, such as the paraxial approximation, become inapplicable in many of the more exotic cavity designs to be discussed here. Cavities in the shape of microdisks, pillars and rings can yield low lasing ...
متن کاملThe spectrum of microdisk lasers
A model for quantitative analysis of microdisk laser emission spectra is presented. Conformal mapping is used to determine radial and azimuthal eigenvalues, eigenvectors, and cavity Q corresponding to leaky optical resonances in an optically transparent dielectric disk. The effects of gain and loss in a microcavity active medium are also included in the model. Our results compare well with expe...
متن کاملDynamics of GaAsÕAlGaAs microdisk lasers
Dynamic response of a GaAs/AlGaAs microdisk laser has been experimentally investigated using femtosecond optical pumping. Below the lasing threshold, the delay time of the emission pulse from the microdisk hardly changes with the pump power. Above the lasing threshold, the delay time is shortened dramatically, and it decreases with increasing the pump power. The theoretical simulation based on ...
